Lodi Unified School District currently has four employee associations that are recognized by the California Public Employment Relations Board including: Lodi Education Association (LEA), Lodi Pupil Personnel Association (LPPA), Classified School Employees Association (CSEA), and Lodi Supervisorial Group (LUSG). The collective bargaining agreements (contracts) represent the legal agreement between Lodi Unified School District and the specific employee association. These agreements generally cover a period of time that includes multiple years, but do not generally exceed three years in length before they are renegotiated.
Memorandums of Understanding (MOU’s) are legal agreements that are reached between the district and the employee association which occur during the term of the contract and are often specific to a particular topic. These instruments are often used to address topics that arise as a result of a change in legislation or to address a particular area which both parties believe should be addressed immediately – rather than waiting for the next contract cycle. Some of these are for a specified period of time (and expire automatically) or they can be permanent changes which will be incorporated into the next collective bargaining agreement. There can be a number of these that are in effect at any given time.
