Lodi Unified School District

School Readiness & Preschool

Preschool provides a nurturing environment that fosters social, cognitive, and emotional skills crucial for a child's future academic and personal success.

Lodi USD operates numerous preschool classrooms (Head Start & State Preschool) on a number of campuses throughout the district. These programs are funded with grant funding and have eligibility requirements including an income limit based on the number of people in the family.

Both Head Start and State Preschool programs have a strong focus on family engagement and parent participation in the classrooms.  There is also a home visiting component in both programs.  All classrooms are licensed by the Department of Social Services.

Preschool Programs

Lodi USD offers preschool programs through state preschool and Head Start San Joaquin.

Preschool classes serve 3 and 4 year old children five days per week for 3, 3.5 or 6 hours daily, depending on the funding source. With a few exceptions, these preschools follow the district’s Modified Traditional calendar.
