Emergency Communications

Crisis Communications

Lodi USD uses Blackboard Mass Notifications to provide important information and emergency alert notifications directly to families.

To ensure you are receiving the most important information, including emergency alerts, please log into the Aeries Parent Portal and verify your contact information. You must be identified as the student's Educational Rights Holder to update contact information.

Crisis Communication Methods

Lodi USD employees and other educational partners can expect to receive communications during and after a crisis via the following methods

Crisis Situations

Families can expect to receive communications during and after a crisis via email and text for the following situations:

  • Gas leak
  • Lockdown
  • Natural disasters (air quality, excessive heat, fires, flooding, etc.)
  • Police activity near a school
  • Power outage that may impact instructional time
  • Threat against school
  • Weapon at school (firearm or knife brandished)

Communications may also be delivered to families via phone calls or mobile app alerts as needed.

Lodi USD does not condone violence or bullying of any kind. For the full district policy on bullying, see Board Policy 5131.2.

Social Media Guidelines

Lodi USD recognizes the importance of social media to communicate and share information with staff, parents, students, and the community. School site social media accounts are maintained by their respective school.

We encourage questions and comments on our social media pages, but please note that they serve as moderated online discussion sites and not public forums.

Lodi USD reserves the right to delete any content, including but not limited to posted comments and images that are:

  • Defamatory, pornographic, proprietary, harassing, libelous or content that may be considered hostile;
  • Spam or include links to other sites;
  • Clearly off topic;
  • Advocate illegal activity;
  • Promote particular services, products, or political organizations;
  • Infringe on copyrights or trademarks; and 
  • Any other content that is inconsistent with law or Lodi USD Board Rules or Policies (See, e.g., Board Policy 1325).

Peachjar

Lodi USD uses Peachjar to email digital flyers for school-related activities and community events to parents. Digital flyers are also posted on each school’s Peachjar page and the Lodi USD Mobile App. 

Peachjar is used exclusively for the distribution of school-approved flyers. Your email address will not be shared with other companies or used by Peachjar for any other purpose. See FAQs section for more information.

Media Relations

Lodi USD recognizes the important role the media plays in reporting news and information about its educational programs, services, students, and employees.

Media Requests, Photos, or Interviews

Lodi USD operates in compliance with all applicable State laws, California Education Code, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Media who want to record (video or otherwise), photograph, or interview staff members and students are asked to make a request through the Communications department.

Visiting Our Schools

Any time a member of the media is on District property, the Director of Communications or designee will serve as an escort to minimize disruption at the school and to assist with additional requests. If you would like to visit a school, please contact the Communications department.
