>> Hello, I think we have got this figured out. Hopefully we're live Cathy Washer, Superintendent of Lodi Unified School District. Thank you Chelsea Vongehr for getting this set up hoping this is working. So a lot of questions have come in about the status of Lodi Unified School District in response to this Health crisis that we're experiencing and I want to be able to answer some of those questions, but I know that there are going to be questions that I cannot answer. So one thing I do want to say is that we know that this is a fluid and ever-changing situation.

We know that folks are concerned. We are all concerned about a lot of this our families loved ones and schools as well. So hopefully I can answer specific questions about the School portion. As you know school is not in session folks have been on break up until The 23rd so that has been something that we have had to work on. We have not had our teachers on board yet. They are just coming back and still getting used to the whole environment that we are still in at this point. So captioning is available. Thank you very much to our translator. We appreciate you being here and helping us out and a lot of questions have been focused on when is school going to go back in session on? That April 6th date.

So that is an element that we need to watch and that we need to work on as well. We know that there are questions about special education. Our teachers are doing And making their very best good-faith effort to address those issues. We are watching what happens with governments both at the state and federal level. We are watching very closely on any guidance that is given to us from the State Department of Education and from the federal government level. With the Department of Education on those issues. We don't have a lot of answers for all of the questions at this point, but please understand that teachers and support staff are doing their very best to support students, to communicate with parents to make sure that students are having the support that they need that will help them complete these activities.

This is an unusual situation. This is a very difficult situation; none of us have been in this before. We just ask for your continued patience as we try to work on these issues that I know are very important to you and us as well. So please just know that we take all of this very seriously. This is extremely disheartening. It is a very sad situation. Our teachers don't like to be at home away from their children. We know that our children love school. And to be apart from it like this is really really hard and we know that you as parents are struggling as well. And we hope that you will reach out to teachers reach out to support staff reach out to District folks and if we can help you in any way we absolutely will.

So there are questions and concerns. Please keep those coming out our website so we can address them as soon as we can. We will do these updates often so that you will know what's going on. Just also so that we know that messages went out. About the district office being closed today for potential exposure being cleaned the custodian staff again reacting immediately getting out there early and making sure that everything is cleaned. So we are taking care of that as well Food Service continues and like I said, we hope to expand that to those rural areas. And we have had many questions about that. So please stay tuned for future updates. And I know that there are a lot of unanswered questions and we will try to get to them as soon as we can. This is just unchartered territory. And as we work through these we will keep you informed.

I see that there is a couple of questions coming in about the district office being closed. Please stay tuned. To get information about that we will communicate as soon as we can about that situation. So we will get messages out about how long the district office will be closed as well. We are going to try our remote board meeting tonight. We will see how it goes. Please be patient with that as you have been with this one today. Hopefully there will be no glitches. But since this is our first time with everybody being remote on a board meeting. This is a special board meeting. So the agenda is short, but hopefully by the next board meeting we will have Zoom.
